DOUG NYE WHEN MONEY FAILED

WHAT HE SINGING BOUT
He's singing about Jesus in a sneaky way. Trying to be cool so you think he is actually cool also instead of just another nerdy, mind numb Christian like everyone thinks we all are.
                  THESE ARE MY LYRICS
Be Ye Tenderhearted
Be ye tenderhearted forgiving everyone
For the ways they have wronged you
For the things they have done
Take all of your hurts now
a storehouse they could fill
Remove them carefully from your heart
Take them high, high upon a hill
For the wind to scatter
To the corners of this globe
Let them trickle from your hand
Let them Slip free , slip free of your hold
Be ye tenderhearted
Forgiving them that let you down
Be your cares departed
Cast to the wind     not again to be found
Be ye tenderhearted
Forgiving them that let you down
Be your cares departed
Cast to the wind     not again to be found
Be ye tenderhearted
Let it not become a stone
Keep it carefully guarded
From  all the sadness   to which it’s prone
Beee yeeee beeee yeeee     Be ye of a tender heart
Beee yeeee beeee freeee
This is the day, the moment to start
Beee yeeee beeee yeeee     Be ye of a tender heart
Beee yeeee beeee freeee
This is the moment, don’t let it part

Bugamoyo
What would a tender hearted person
Do if they were in that place
Would they react would they fight back
Would they demand their time and space
Lay down the burden Lay down the burden
Lay down the burden of your heavy heart
Surely God will provide a way still
He’s still God and He’ll do his part
Bugamoyo Bugamoyo
Lay down the burden of your heart
No need to cry so. You need to just go
Go now to God. He’ll do His part
A soft answer gently spoken
stems the flow ,of angry wrath.
Heals the friendship that was broken
Removes the mountain there in your path
There is a mountain. A steep, steep mountain
A mountain lying in your way
But know that mountain Beneath His fountain
Will quickly crumble when you say
Bugamoyo Bugamoyo
Lay down the burden of your heart
No need to cry so. You need to just go
Go now to God. He’ll do His part
Bugamoyo bugamoyo bugamoyo

Come Spillin Out
From a seed that  is planted
Springs a stem that will bloom
From the blossom comes a flower
It’s beauty fills any room
While the beauty of the flower
Spills out upon all those who view
Whatever you are full of
It will come spillin out, out of you
It will come spillin out, out of you
It will come spillin out, out of you
Come spillin out
Are you full of hate or are you full of grace
Whatever you are full of  It will fill up your face
Are you full of confusion
Oh are you full of doubt
Whatever you are full of
It will come spillin out, out of you
It will come spillin out, out of you
It will come spillin out, out of you
Come spillin out
Never empty. It just can’t be
It will spill out for all to see
It will spill out so easily
So fill your cup up carefully
So fill your cup up carefully
Though the flower it will wither
And the stem will surely die
The seeds will be scattered
And the seeds never lie, lie, lie
Oh  whatever you are full of
Oh whatever you may sow
Your seed will be scattered
They will take root and grow, grow, grow
They will take root and grow, grow, grow
Never empty. It just can’t be
It will spill out for all to see
It will spill out so easily
So fill your cup up carefully
So fill your cup up carefully

Double Minded Man
You seek wisdom you seek truth
You seek to see the light
But in your bondage to your doubt
You tremble, tremble  in the night
Clouds of wavering indecision
Casts a fog upon your sight
Your torn in stark division
Whether Turning to the left or to the right
Double minded man
Got his head deep in the sand
Double minded man Afraid to take a stand
Double minded man Fails in all he plans
Double minded man
Got trouble ,  trouble in each hand
Chained unto a constant doubt
uncertain what to do
Aimless confused muddle
Tossed , adrift, lost without a clue
Nagging hesitation vacillating vague
Mistrustful of  the message
“Your debt, your full debt it has been paid”
Double minded man………
How many truths in this world
Could there possibly be
Could 60 billion people
each have the truth that sets them free
There’s a  conventional common view
Makes everything a lot less tense
It says What’s right is right for you
To me that defies all common sense
Truth is like a saber dividing all in two
balancing there up on the fence
That my friend is a dangerous  thing to do
Double minded man………
One foot firmly planted in the boat
The other frozen to the dock
Get you in or   get you out
For sooner or later that boat is gonna rock
Man of gnawing indecision
Slave to an uncertainty
Strolling down the middle of the highway
That’s another very dangerous place to be

WE ARE CALLED
Though we were common sinners
Wading through this mire
He pulled us from that awful pit
He saved us from the fire  TO BE
Wiser than a serpent, gentle as a dove
Called out into this world
For the gospel of His love
We are called  We are called We are called
For the gospel the gospel of his love
We are called  We are called We are called
For the gospel the gospel of his love
No not one. No not one. No not one is worthy
No not one
Called to be saints from the sinners that we were
To walk among these shattered souls
To make the message clear
That everyone has fallen. No not one meets the mark.
The waters rise quit stalling it’s time to board the ark.
We are called……………………….
No not one. No not one. No not one is worthy
No not one
Though none of us are worthy
Our best works a filthy mess
We’re free to stand before a God of perfect forgiveness
Still you may choose your freedom .
You’re free to turn away.
My prayer is that you’ll be called out
And this is what I pray
That you’ll be called . You’ll be called
You’ll be called for the gospel
The gospel of his love………………………..
GOING DOWN
We were screaming in the halls
We were running into walls
We were Falling through our hollow dreams
We were Taking dangerous falls
We were going down, going down, going down
Down for the last time, Down for the last time
We were wallowing in the sty
We were Gulping down each lie
We were Anguished in the dismal fray
Not wise enough to cry
We were going down going down going down
Down for the last time Down for the last time
He grabbed us with his mighty hand
He wants that not one sink
Snatched us back our bodies racked
We were tottering  There on the brink
We were going down   He heard our shout
He was holding us up   He was helping us out
We were going down for the last time
He was there on the shore    all along
He was throwing a line
We were going down, going down, going down
Down for the last time Down for the last time
Blood  was oozing from our pours
We were licking off our sores
We were slipping down a steep incline
We were broken to our cores
We were going down, going down, going down
Down for the last time Down for the last time
We were tripping over blessings
Stumbling as if blind
Plucked from that pit now here we sit
He drug us from the slime
We were going down  Ignoring the tolls
He was there all along  Looking out for our souls
We were going down    For the last time
He was there on the shore    all along
He was throwing a line
We were going down ,going down going down
Down for the last time Down for the last time

LEAD ME ON
I am armed with my weakness
Strengthened by my tear
Emboldened by a simple need
That is a heart that wants to hear
I’ve put away my lofty thinking
My wretched righteous pride
I have finally concluded
I have nothing left to hide
Lead me on     I am blind I am weary
Lead me on     Light my way Guide these feet
Lead me on     In your time but please hurry
Lead me on     I’m so tired so weak
Lead me on     lead me on
Lead me on     lead me on
Without your word  what would guide me
Without your light   I could not see
Without your spirit here beside me
I’d be lost for eternity
Oh I have searched without finding
I have clutched too many dreams
Followed roads long and winding
I am lost so it seems
Lead me on  Through the snares that surround me
Lead me on  Though my vision be dim
Lead me on  Through these cares that confound me
Lead me on  Through this valley of sin
Lead me on    I am blind   I am weary
Lead me on    Light my way  Guide these feet
Lead me on    In your time  But please hurry
Lead me on    I am so tired so weak
Lead me on ………….

 LITTLE WORLD BIG GOD
I am a little, little, little man
I make my little, little man big plans
You are A great big GOD
You hold me in the palm of your hand
You hold me In the palm Of your hand
It is a little, little, little world
All of our little sins, OH, They could fill
A great and giant bottomless sea
A little sin from him a little sin from me
Those harmless little sins
Maybe one Maybe two maybe three
But what could wash this whole world clean as new
Just one drop of blood From a big God like you
We are so small   you are so large
It’s a comfort  to know You are so big and in charge
I’m a little man    you are so vast
You hold me in your hand. What more could I ask
I am a little man so scant and so wee
In the palm of your hand you’ll be holding me
It’s a little world and you’re a big God
There’s a lot of big problems
We’re all a little bit flawed
It’s a tiny little world filled with a lot a small sins
You’re a  huge, huge God
It’s a dirty little world we’re living in
But One drop of your blood
Gonna make this whole world clean once again
I spent the whole day yesterday
Feeling sorry for myself again
Forgot about praising your name
At those times when,  When I’m feeling small
My troubles too great
Back in your hand I crawl.
It’s never too late   cause
You’re a great big God You’re Oh so grand
I’m a little, little, tiny man
I’m a little man so weak and unsure
You’re a big God so deep so pure
I’m a little man I’m ever so small
You’re a big God so high above all
I’m a little man You are a big God
You hold me in your hand  You are a great big God

PREACH ON PREACHER
On Sunday morning for most of us folks it’s time to worship the Lord
So we put on clean clothes so nobody knows then we dutifully jump in the Ford
We arrive at church, if we’re lucky not late, sing a few songs  then pass the plate
Time for the preacher to do what he do and we just sit in the pew
I know you agree with what he’s sayin’ and your amenin’ in your brain.
So you’re not Pentecostal but I know you’re not hostile
You’re Loggy . Aint it a shame
You’re not Charismatic by a long, long way. You’re kinda bashful and that’s Ok .
I know your alive cause you sang the last hymn.
Preachers’ kinda lonely . Encourage him.
It’s lonely on the pulpit and you’re never quite sure if your words are getting through
Imagine if you will ninety people stone still and up there it was you.
Standing there a beacon from every pore the gospel leaking. A lighthouse on a hill.
It’s warm you can’t be frozen. I Know you’re not a dozin
Speak up if you will.
We know you can yell cause your kids all tell down in Sunday school.
I know you love the savior but I noticed your behavior is lukewarm kinda cool.
By the look on your face I see a trace of saving grace. It’s nice your eyes are sorta open.
Instead of just a yawning praise the lord his day is dawning. For some amens I’m a hoping.
We all got opinions and we state them quite often,  what the preacher is supposed to do.
But in your job description is there written the prescription your just supposed to warm the pew.
A rumble, burp or groan that echoes out alone doesn’t qualify as a holy shout
Doodles by the ream or a really good daydream doesn’t really help the preacher out.
Give me some Amens……………………….

Ferocious Love
You throw your fist in the air  You scream and you swear
Lost in your pain curse out his name
You cry “nothing is fair” “God must not care”
Believe it or not He still loves you right there
He’s gonna get back at you He’s gonna attack you
He’s gonna  attack  you with his  All consuming love
He’s gonna get back at you He’s gonna attack  you
He’s gonna  attack you with His ferocious love
Oh Oh Oh  Are you a mocker of god
Oh Oh Oh  Are you a scoffer like the rest
Oh Oh Oh  Are you still angry at God
Angry at Him, cause you have not been blessed
You stand up tall and proud  You boast way too loud
You say “I’ll do it my way”   Then you follow the crowd
Throw down one more beer Making  yourself quite clear
You say “I swear to God, There’s nothing I fear”
He’s gonna get back at you He’s gonna attack you
He’s gonna  attack  you with his  All consuming love
He’s gonna get back at you He’s gonna attack  you
He’s gonna  attack you with His ferocious love

FREE AT LAST

I have a dream that every valley Shall be exalted
Every hill every mountain will one day be made Low
The rough and crooked places
Will be made straight and narrow
The glory of the Lord, The world will someday know
It shall be revealed  All flesh will clearly see
God’s children black and white  Will every one be free
The shackles will be broken The almighty will have spoken
One day we will be free, free at last
Free at last   Free at last
One day we will be free, free at last
Free at last.  Free at last
One day we will be free, free at last
With this faith we will be able  To hew out a stone of hope
From this mountain      This mountain of despair
Transform the jangling     Discord of our nation
To a symphony of brotherhood That echoes through the air
It shall be revealed    Every knee will someday bend
The truth will be proclaimed The torment it will end
All toil and labor cease    The captives be released
One day we will be free, free at last
Free at last  Free at last
One day we will be free, free at last
Free at last  Free at last
One day we will be free, free at last
It shall be revealed          Free at last
Every heartache healed   Free at last
It shall be proclaimed      Free at last
No longer blind, no longer lame    Free at last
It shall be revealed

Gnashing Of Teeth
I was kicking I was fighting, scratching, dragging my feet
Didn’t wanna go in confess my sin
Even though I knew I was beat
I was Broken I was busted    little more like Crushed
But not yet humbled      As from that door I rushed
Then someone or something
Gripped my arm and spoke this plea
“His peace it will not harm  you    He wants to set you free”
So I opened up the door a crack  a light came shining out
I heard the choir sing a woe filled moan
Then I heard some woman shout
I was there at the cross roads       A critical junction
When the holy spirit moved me     I was under the unction
I said to myself     “SELF !       this is not my style “
Next thing I knew I was half way down the aisle
I was thrashing I was struggling
There was a gnashing of teeth
There was a battle in the heavenly
For my soul here down beneath
I thought the only battle going on was in my heart
Now I know that there were forces
Trying to tear my world apart
Now I thank the Lord for that day    I heard that battle call
And stumbled down the aisle      and there surrendered all
My fears they were all melted        The anger left my face
I was standing there naked           Before my saviors grace
Now I look back in wonder        that a heart as hard as mine
Could place it’s trust in Jesus Christ
Leave this whole wide world behind
Now  I’m pressing ever forward    to the upward constant call
I thank the Lord I lost that fight and there surrendered all.

HE’S CALLING
There’s an aching love that wants to break in.
Change your broken heart from deep within .
Shake you to your very soul .
Take that  heart ,that broken heart
And make it whole, whole. Make it whole, whole
Go ahead now open the door . Open it wide
Go ahead now open the door . Open it wide
Go ahead now open the door
He’ll heal that heart,  that broken heart
Forever more     forever more
Standing just out side the door He knocks.
He’s calling .
I know you know  that He’s waiting. Unlock the locks.
Quit stalling.
Go ahead .Open wide the door .
He’ll change that  heart, That broken heart
Forever more ,more        forever  more
Go ahead now open the door    Open it wide
Go ahead now open the door    Open it wide
Go ahead now open the door
He’ll heal that heart  that broken heart
Forever more       forever more

WHEN MONEY FAILED
There are few who  remember then
that bitter Cold December when
When money failed , Yes, when money failed
Riches meant nothing  silver or Gold
The market place  was vacant
nothing bought nothing sold
The wind blew hard It was unusually Cold
Folks walk away, Now when the story’s  Told of
When money failed
When money failed  Mothers wailed
Grown men cried , angry men railed
Children’s tears they prevailed
When money failed
Children played games
Stacked the coins in neat piles
Till the hunger stole the joy
from their Play and their smiles
People chased rumors and schemes for miles
The churches were full People kneeling in the aisles
Yet hopelessness grew all of the while
When money failed , when money failed
When money failed
When money failed  Mothers wailed
Grown men cried , angry men railed
children's tears they prevailed
When money failed
Dollar wouldn’t  buy you a single darn thing
Stomachs strung tight as a violin string
Acres of land  sold title and rights
For a few cups of meal  A few meager bites
To purchase just one More    Agonized night
When money failed , when money failed
When money failed
When money failed  Mothers wailed
Grown men cried  angry men railed
Children’s tears they prevailed
When money failed
The glamour gone the luster now dulled
The seed from tares effectively culled
Values sifted     purpose made clear
The goal to live through one more  merciless year
The groan it echoed That’s all one could hear
When money failed , when money failed
When money failed
Then spring the soil the warmth of the sun
Try to forget desperate deeds that were done
Look to the harvest   pray to the One
bury the dead and nurture the young
Try to forget the dirge that was sung
When money failed, when money failed
When money failed …………………
